Best Ab Exercises -- How to Lose Belly Fat and Get Defined, Sexy Abs

"What are the best ab exercises to tone and tighten my abs?"

"What is the best ab workout to target my lower abs?"

"What about my upper abs, what's the best abdominal exercise to get that more noticeable?"

"And, what about the best ab exercises for my waist and love handles?! Can you show me how to lose belly fat from those areas?"

"Do I do crunches? Sit-Ups? Bicycles? Ball Exercises? What is it?! Please show me the best abdominal exercise to sculpt my abs and waistline!"

"HELP!"

Lately, I've been getting a lot of emails from you, my visitors, regarding this very topic of what exactly are the best ab workout and the best abdominal exercise to tone the abdominal core.

So, I thought now would be a good time for me to answer this question regarding what are the best ab exercises as I'm sure this is a burning question on everyone's minds as well…

When it comes to the question of what are the "best ab exercises?"

The simple, and correct answer is anything that will help you get rid of that layer of flab covering your abdominal muscles!

Because the truth is if you can't get rid of your belly fat, or don't know how to lose belly fat, it won't matter what abs exercises you do -- even if it is the "best ab exercises." Or, how many crunches or sit-ups you perform everyday.

You won't get sculpted abs if you can't see them!

Now, I'm not saying crunches aren't some of the best ab exercises to target the abs, or that ab exercises are completely useless. Abdominal exercises are great to develop the ab muscles.

But, what's the point of spending all your time trying to develop ab muscles you won't be able to see!

How to Lose Belly Fat in Order to "Reveal" Your Abs...

To lose belly fat, you have to raise your metabolic rate which comes from overall body toning and not excessively focusing on one troubled spot (a.k.a. spot reducing) on your body using "ab exercises."

It doesn't work because "ab exercises" whether it's crunches, sit ups, etc., etc. -- does not burn fat.

It's the biggest misconception when it comes to toning the abs and why many fail at getting abs. I cannot stress that enough.

But, the first and most important step, or as I like to call the "straw" that stirs the drink is -- cleaning up your diet. Start by reducing, or if you want dramatic results eliminate sugar completely from your diet. Empty calories from sugary soft drinks like juices (which are loaded with high-fructose corn syrup) and soda do nothing but make your waistline bigger. A healthier alternative is water.

Then, add more protein to your menu. Protein is the best food you can eat to burn fat. Why, you ask? Besides the fact your body needs it. Protein will curb your appetite making you feel "satisfied" longer. Which is vital to losing fat because then you won't be hungry all the time so it reduces the temptation to eat junk food and gain unwanted calories.

Also, stay away from processed foods (anything that comes out of a box, basically) as much as possible. Processed foods are also loaded with sugar and other chemicals that do nothing but slow your metabolic rate and make you fat. Not to mention reek havoc on your overall health.

If you really want to get the best results and especially lose that last 10 to 20 pounds of ab flab so you can actually see your abs. Learning how to eat right for your exact body type is the key because you can do all the right things by training hard and following a strict diet.

But, if you're eating the wrong foods for your specific body type (e.g. endomorph, ectomorph, mesomorph). It won't matter how hard you workout, what exercises you do, or how strict your diet is because you still won't lose fat. So, if you're serious about losing belly fat, and taking your body to the next level. Then I'd highly recommend reading Tom Venuto's book Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle.

Over the years, I've been able to learn a lot from reading many of Tom's articles as well as his book, which I still use today to help me lean out, and stay lean. You'll learn a lot as well from his years of expertise and experience on losing fat and shedding the pounds. Check it out here.

Cardio Exercises Are Not Enough to Lose Your Belly Fat

An often over looked and important aspect of losing belly fat is strength training exercises. Many people will only do cardio/aerobic exercises while skipping their strength training routines.

How many times will you hear someone who needs to lose a few extra pounds complain, "Why is it that I've been doing 35 to 45 minutes of cardio daily yet I still can't seem to lose any fat?"

Then, when you ask them if they’ve been doing any strength training exercise along with their cardio, their answer is usually, "No." Well, then that might be the problem...

... Because if you want to burn fat, what did I say you needed to do? You need to raise your metabolic rate…

... There's no better way to put your metabolism into maximum overdrive then by building lean muscle tissue. There's also no easier and faster way to lose fat, so why make things harder on yourself? Your body can be burning fat (calories) all day for you if you just give it what it needs!

And, the truth is when you see many people with defined, rock hard abs. It's unlikely they got it by only doing crunches and sit ups, and very likely they got it by doing indirect ab exercises and compound exercises -- which only comes from strength training exercises.

For instance, if you want to lose fat and get rock hard abs, I'd tell you to get under the squat rack and start doing some Squats. As well as doing Deadlifts. Or, some Lunges.

These are just a few examples of great total body movements you should be adding to your workout routines. As these compound exercises will raise your metabolic rate to melt ab fat, and stimulate your body's natural testosterone and growth hormones (HGH) levels to build muscle to burn even more belly fat! All while indirectly targeting your abs at the same time…

Which means some of the best ab exercises to get abs -- aren't even "ab exercises" at all!

So, remember to lose fat and get lean so you CAN see your abs, it's very important to balance your workouts with an even dose of strength training exercises. Otherwise, you'll be missing out a key component to losing stubborn belly fat and getting sculpted flat, six-pack abs as well as overall health.

To learn more full body strength training routines, check out The Truth About Abs program. Written by a certified fitness expert, Mike Geary's program is unlike other programs as this program doesn't fully focus on ineffective "ab exercises" like crunches and sit-ups.

Instead, it focuses on the types of workouts, and unique sequences and combinations that will maximize your body's fat-burning and metabolic-boosting potential. Which you should know by now is the key to getting abs. Best of all; all the exercises come with pics. Find out more here.

Bottom Line on the Best Ab Exercises?

The best ab workout and the best ab exercises are anything that will help you raise your metabolic rate and get rid of your belly fat. Which makes some of the best ab exercises to tone your abs -- not "abs exercises" at all. Period.

Plus, what's the point of spending all your time doing crunches and sit-ups trying to develop ab muscles you can't see!

So, start eating right for your body type, and balancing your cardio routines with a consistent dose of strength training. Then, you'll start seeing results from doing all those crunches and sit-ups.

And, watch you get lean and mean!
