Deadlifts are some of the best abdominal exercise routines to get toned, rock hard abs as they raise the metabolism to get rid of belly fat so you can ACUTALLY see your ab muscles. Deadlift: Difficulty, 2; lower back, 3. Grasp a barbell in front of you with an overhand grip. Your hands should be shoulder width apart, with your palms facing toward you. Keep your feet hip width apart. Hold the barbell close to your body near hip level with your knees straight, but not locked. Your lower back should be slightly arched. Now contract your abs. Keeping your abs contracted, keep your head up, look forward, keep your chest out and slowly bend forward at the hips to lower the barbell to shin level in a smooth, controlled motion; inhale as you lower. Don’t round your back. And keep your arms straight, but not locked. As you lean forward, your hips and glutes should slightly move backward; the bar should stay close to your body, and your weight should be centered on your heels. Stop when you feel a mild stretch in your hamstrings; do not go farther than this. But do not pause to prevent lower back injury. Exhale as you return to standing position. Slightly pull your shoulders back; pause for one two to seconds, and continue exhaling all the air out of your lungs, forcefully. Repeat. This exercise can also be done with dumbbells.
